Family Spice Mix

My mom definitely gets the credit for this recipe. What started as something that she only made at Thanksgiving time to use in our turkey marinade has turned into a beloved spice blend that most members of my family always have on hand.

It is a good all purpose seasoning to use on a wide variety of foods - chicken, roasted vegetables, and salad dressings just to name a few.

It also makes a great gift. You can use small mason jars, or get a little fancier with your own spice jars, that can be filled and given away.

INGREDIENTS

¾ cup coarse kosher salt

30 cloves of garlic, peeled and smashed with back of knife

2 tablespoons white pepper

1 tablespoon ground ginger

1 ½ tablespoons poultry seasoning

1 tablespoon dry mustard

3 tablespoons chili powder

1 tablespoon ground celery seed

1 tablespoon onion powder

1 tablespoon dry dill

3 tablespoons paprika

Directions

Put garlic and half of the salt in the food processor fitted with a metal blade.  Process with on/off pulses, add remaining salt & process.  Mixture should form a paste .  Place mixture in large mixing bowl and add the remaining ingredients.  Mix well (I use my hands)  Store in an airtight container at room temperature. It will keep for up to a year.
